Prepping Away

The National Stationery Show is fast approaching, and since it's my first time showing, I created this introductory postcard as a promotional piece. Several hundred of these babies hit the mailbox this morning!

Did you know Sunday was Worldwide Pinhole Photography Day? In college, I had a pinhole camera that I made out of balsa wood and painted lime-green. It had been years since I've used one, but on Sunday we got together with some friends - who have converted their basement bathroom into a darkroom - and shot these photos. It was cloudy day with not much light so we experimented quite a bit with exposure times, up to about 30 minutes.

I shot the dark, mysterious plant photo; my hubby took the stark black and white street scenes.

Fine Day Press goes live!

Whew! It's been a busy couple of months over here getting everything ready for our big launch at this spring's National Stationery Show (mere weeks away); one big part of that preparation was getting our website up and running. I'm really excited with how it turned out! You can view our entire lineup of letterpress greetings and wedding invitations, sign up for our e-newsletter, and more. The amazing photography is by my dear friend, Cheryl Zibisky, with styling by the fabulous Lynda White. Check it out here...

A Shout-out

I was just so thrilled and excited to see my sweet friend Mika's clothing line featured on Daily Candy today! It could not happen to a more deserving individual.

If you're not familiar with Mika Organic, read my earlier post here.

Brand-New Etsy Shop!

In anticipation of the launch of the super-new Fine Day Press website, which is undergoing a few final tweaks, we're getting our new etsy storefront all shined up and ready to shop! The Fine Day Press shop is dedicated to our debut line of letterpress greeting cards and invitations. I hope you like it! I will be adding more card and invitation designs in the coming weeks. Totes, art prints and tees will remain in our happy little Lovely Pieces Shop.

Green and Greener

After last night's rain, everything outside has burst into total, utter green-ness! Planting my little herb garden on the fire escape last weekend only made me want more plant-life around my home. Currently my indoor plants consist of an asparagus fern, a lone succulent, and a rather sad palm... Often my cats are to blame, uprooting innocent little plants in the name of fun, chewing away on delicate leaves. But I'm sure part of the problem lies in my less-than-green thumb and lack of plant knowledge.

So, I was psyched to discover Woolly Pocket the other day over on Dwell's website. They create the coolest planters out of felt, and I love that the "Wally" wall-mounted plant pockets would keep the greenies away from kitty's teeth and claws, giving the plant at least a fighting chance of survival in my home. They've also got a really great, Garden of Eden-esque conceptual photography thing going on!

Who's in the mood for spring shopping? Me! Now that we are in for a string of nice sunny warmth here in Brooklyn, I am ready to break out some new attire. I noticed these super-cute tops and necklace in my inbox recently, by the lovely talented Angela Spencer of A.S.I.S. I'm especially taken with the reclaimed silk tops, above, which come in a range of excellent colors and are screen-printed with eco-friendly ink.
